Say what you want about the slang but there are three defenses about that!


1; The show is set in Manhattan so it's given that the language would have to be hip hop slang at the time.

2; Jake's voice actor Dante Basco grew up in the urban jungle and I think that he wouldn't mind talking like a black guy.

3; It's a suspension of disbelief that seems plausible even from Disney, that a Chinese-American teenager voiced by a white guy can talk like a black guy and it won't seem out of the ordinary compared to the dragons, magical creatures and hunters on the show!
